In-game scams, Beware and be aware of themWe have are noticing an increase in Mercenary Warrant Scams in-game lately.
Most of the time when a scammer is placing his character for sale, he claims to not have Merc Warrants and requests the buyer to trade him one and promises the player that he will Merc his high level character and sell it back. After receiving the Merc Warrant, the user disappears without acknowledging his promise.
Be warned that we are taking these reports seriously and we are banning players who are scamming others in-game.
Oh and to my wise friend out there who thinks that you will create alt low level accounts and can scam others and reap the benefit of that scam, we can easily find your main account. When such a scam is reported, we will be pulling out all your accounts and will be banning them.
We urge the community to be wary of such acts in-game. There are numerous ways to avoid getting scammed.
1. Request the seller to buy the Merc card and then later reimburse him for the Merc card when the character sale takes place.
2. "Sell" the Merc card to the character seller and ask him to add the price of that Merc card when he sells you the character. This way both the parties stand to loose nothing if the player decides not to sell his character.
3. Trade an item that is equivalent to the value of the Merc card if the seller claims that he does not have enough vis to purchase the Merc card.
Tip: Check out the family level of the seller if he looks like a new player. If the family level is low, chances are that the character that he is trying to sell is from another account. The only reason why one would be transferring the character from his main account to a low level alt account before sale is to execute such a scam.
If the character was leveled up in the same account, the family level will be high.
We have covered all the angles while doing investigation in such cases. There is really no way to get away by scamming players in-game. We are bringing this to the communities notice because of the rise in complaints that we are receiving lately and the number of bans that we are imposing. May this also act as a fair warning to the scammers.
